A Taste of Nepal and Yarden’s Birthday

Following a very active month in India, which we ended in early October, we decided to go for some downtime in Nepal.
We spent our first few days in the Thamel area of Kathmandu. Through TripAdvisor we found a quirky little hotel named “The Royal Penguin” that had plush toys on every bed (!) and a special door-sign that allowed you to request more! (Ben did:-)) The door-sign’s copywriter had a great sense of humor.
In Kathmandu we had the opportunity to volunteer at HeartBeat. Thanks to Aviv Malka and her family (another family traveling around Asia) we met Juju Kaji, an amazing man with a mission, who created an Afterschool Center and programs for local kids. HeartBeat offers a warm, nurturing, and safe environment for kids and teens that would otherwise be on the streets. Yarden and Ben had the opportunity to meet some kids, socialize and play…
